Because I am not interested in game %26amp; next day my kids have school early.
My boss invited for Super Bowl party at 2 pm; Is it ok if I went at 2%26amp; left before game starts b/c I'm not int
You should stay 'til half time to show your boss and his friends that you respect their hobbies and interests. Chow down and relax.
Reply:I agree you should stay through until half time if you accept the invitation. You can beg off altogether with family commitments. I totally understand how difficult it is to feign interest in the sport. If they could just play and cut out all the other stuff, it could all be over about half the time.
Reply:Stay until 1/2 time - then you can go home.
Reply:Politely decline.
Reply:If your going to do that then just don't go and tell your boss that your not into football and your boss will probably respect that, but if your are going no matter what just stay and watch the commercials because they get funny
Reply:if you can't stay until half-time, decline the invite, making up another prior engagement that you have. Thank your boss graciously for the invite, and then, the day after the Super Bowl, ask how things went, and tell him how much you wish you could have participated. Yeah, its a lie, but a boss is one that needs to be put up on a pedestal, esp if they are crossing the line of business/personal. Feel priviledged that you were invited into their home...
Reply:If you don't want to go, then say so. Be honest by saying that you don't care much for the sport and that you have other plans. If you decide to take the invitation, tell your boss that you will be attending, but only for part of the time as you need to attend some family obligations before your kids head to school in the morning. That way, you wouldn't be letting your boss down while being totally professional with ducking out early.
Reply:You may be able to arrange to have a friend call you sometime during the first half. Then use the call as an excuse to leave due to some emergency (friend's tire is flat, or ran out of gas). Keep the excuse simple, you don't want to have to make a complex explanation worse by repeating it incorrectly. Or, you can just be honest. Tell them that football just isn't your thing and bow out gracefully.
I hope this helps. Good luck.
Reply:stay at least til halftime if you accept the offer
Reply:go ahead and go... chances are other people will go due to office politics that arent into football that you can chat with. stay until halftime and just tell the truth that you need to run, sundays are busy getting the kids ready for the school week.
if you cant stand football at all, and arent interested in the socialization aspect, it is respectable to decline the invite beforehand with the same excuse. i would not set up a fake excuse to get out once you are there, as that is just not worth the hassle and point of lying to your boss in a social setting when you have a viable out, with a "wish i could make it but the kids and all... maybe some saturday we could all get together and grill out or something".
